Currently, positive reports are still coming in for most of the Hill Country especially for those routes just east and west of Texas Highway 16 from Fredericksburg to north of Llano.  I have seen report photos of nice displays of bluebonnets often mixed with paintbrush for locations along:

  • Texas 29 east and west of Llano
  • RR-152 west of Llano
  • Texas 16 north of Llano
  • Texas 16 south of Llano from CR-315 to south of RR-1323
  • Willow City Loop
  • Texas 71 from Llano to US 281
  • US 281 north of Burnet
  • US 281 north of Marble Falls
  • US 281 south of Lampasas
  • FM-243 from Bertram to US 183
  • RR-963 northeast of Burnet
  • RR-501 north of Pontotoc and west of Cherokee
  • RR 1 and Danz Cabins

This is just short list and only representative of what is currently being reported.  Most of these photos are recent as of 4/6 to 4/9.  From my own observations the bluebonnets are mostly at peak, but still look good in medium size landscapes especially small fields and roadsides.  The area has and is receiving more rain this week, so it is possible these areas will still look good through 4/15 maybe longer.  If you are coming from a location within 2 to 3 hours from the Hill Country it might still be worth the trip.  No guarantees though.  Some of the better looking blooms are now being spotted in areas just north and northeast of Burnet back towards the North Central Texas area.
