Yesterday I spent a couple hours in Conroe shooting wildflowers.  The star was the coreopsis.  They are beautiful right now in a field near Gladsteal and I45 and at the State forest offices along FM1488 between I45 and Kuykendahl. You can see my photos starting here: https://grigsbys.smugmug.com/Photogra...-SX50/i-2KGVcRT

I am always happy when I find a new (to me) wildflower and I got to photograph for the first time the Spring Ladies' Tresses.  It is an unusal flower in that the blooms spiral sround the stem.

Hi Murry,

I am happy to hear the bloom is on there in your area.  Very nicely done!

I am thinking of swinging through your area in a couple weeks. What routes do you think would be the best for a short trip through?

Rich,

I'm afraid I can't be much help because I haven't been out of Montgomery County (The Woodlands and Conroe actually) since early April. I guess if I were to go out I would try Burton, Independence, Whitehall and Montgomery.  I might also try Bellville, Kenny, Industry and Fayetteville.  But I'm just guessing and naming places I've always enjoyed visiting.  If you delay into late June and early July you might check out the Bluebells??
