I echo Andy's sentiments -- the site's been tremendously helpful to my husband, Justin, and I. We did the La Vernia phlox trip a couple weeks ago after reading about it here, and despite high winds enjoyed the spectacle.  We checked the reports again before leaving on a previously scheduled Marble Falls 2-night trip, and found the roads much as Rich described.

Thank you for the input Shannon.  I am very thankful that the accident did not involve you or Justin, but I am saddened to hear that someone was injured while out viewing the beauty of our wildflowers.  I echo the caution to be very careful when attempting to stop or while walking along the highway.  I observed one man standing on the edge of the roadway while he watched his wife...
